The American women’s gymnastics team, led by Simone Biles, attracted some of the most famous fans to the 2024 Olympics in Paris on Sunday.

Biles entered the Women’s All-Academic competition on Sunday, July 28 due to injury, and has been setting high scores on floor and vault that are unlikely to be beaten for the rest of the qualifying period.

Other notable faces in the audience included Tom Cruise as fans ran up to him in the arena to take selfies and offer a few handshakes.

Biles competed against the United States team, Jordan Chiles, Hezly Rivera, Sunisa Lee and Jade Carey. “The brain is no longer communicating with the body, they’re changing the movement, they’re losing their place,” US women’s coach Landi explained in an episode of Biles’ latest Netflix documentary, titled Simone Biles: Rising. “It usually has nothing to do with physical activity.”

“I knew from that moment,” Biles confessed, reflecting on her Tokyo performance. It was quiet for me. I felt like I was in a prison in my brain and body.”

This year, the Olympian battled a calf injury after being seen limping on his left ankle. Although US coach Cecile Landi explained at the time that the injury bothered Biles for only a few weeks and was considered minor. Landi added that there are no plans for him to stay away.

“I can’t explain it,” said Landi. I’m so proud of him and what he’s been through and what he’s showing the world what he’s capable of.

Biles posted a total score of 59.566 and the Americans scored 172.296.
