Simone Biles attracts celebrities for first Paris Olympics appearance

Ariana Grande, Tom Cruise, Baz Luhrmann, Cynthia Erivo and editor-in-chief of Vogue Anna Wintour were among the crowd of celebrities who packed the Bercy Arena in Paris on Sunday to see the return Simone Biles to the Olympic stage.

Biles is back for her third Olympic Games after pulling out of the Tokyo Games in 2021 due to mental health issues.

Actors, singers, social media personalities and NFL players, cheered on their feet as the four-time gold medalist entered the stadium.

Tom Cruise told Reuters it was “good”.

The rapper was also the Olympic torch bearer, carrying the flame through the streets of Saint-Denis on Friday before the opening ceremony.

He was also a special correspondent for NBC’s coverage of the event.

Singer John Legend and his model wife Chrissy Teigen they took their children to see the qualifications.

Supporter of the US water polo team, rapper Flavor Flavhe covered their game against Greece and was seen cheering with First Lady Jill Biden after the team’s 15-6 victory.

Hall of Fame player Flavor Flav is throwing his support behind the United States women’s water polo team.

An unexpected collaboration between the rapper and the group was formed when director Maggie Steffens made a call for financial support in May.

The 65-year-old founding member of American rap group Public Enemy went viral as he practiced for the group in a pool.

He arrived on Friday wearing a USA water polo cap and jersey.

Team USA wasn’t the only country with a celebrity team.

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban were seen by fans in the crowd for the finals of skateboarding, they saw the speedy efforts of 14-year-old Chloe Covell in the junior Olympic champion of Australia.

Photos posted on social media showed them getting cheers from big players among skating fans.

With many more events coming up and the finals for Simone Biles, there’s no doubt that familiar faces will be seen in the crowd.
