Chucks Win In Unusual Fashion – Five Innings With Help From Rain
The Chucks pick up another home game against Lake Shore after rain stopped the game in the middle of the 6th.thinning. The Chucks took a 5-4 lead and scored 40 points in regulationth of the season.
The Chucks gave up three to 1St inning as starter Edwin Alicea (Nova Southeastern) threw 39 pitches and was unable to return for the second inning. Garrett Brogdon (Simpson U) would come in and pitch the rest of the game.
The Chucks got three games to 2n.d as did Edian Espinal (UCF), Max Galvin, and Luke Pemberton all had penalties. Galvin had an RBI, Sam Fischer (FIU), Espinal and Brady Jurgella (Mankato) all scored runs. The Chucks tied it 3-3.
Brogdon pitched four complete innings and recorded seven strikeouts. He allowed just 1 run in 5 inningsth while the Chinooks led 3-4. Chucks bats would be a size 5th.
It started with Espinal leading off with his second game of the season. His HR from the right side of the plate gave the switch hitter a single to left and right. He tied the game again at 4-4. Two batters later, HR derby player Max Soliz Jr. (Kansas) hit his 6th.th Seasonal HR to lead 5-4.
Two homeruns would prove huge, as would a flyout from the top of the 6th for the Chinooks, rain and lightning would hit Athletic Park and delay the game. The rain continued and the Chucks walked away victorious.
